Description of the Arrábida Tour
Get ready for a day of natural beauty, history, culture, and flavor on this private tour from Lisbon to Arrabida, an experience that blends the best of Portugal’s coast and countryside.
Your journey begins with a scenic ride over the Vasco da Gama Bridge, which spans 17 km across the Tagus River. From there, you’ll head to Palmela, a small medieval town dominated by its castle. The castle sits on a ridge with panoramic views of the Tejo and Sado rivers. Learn about this fortress’s strategic role in Portuguese history while enjoying a view that goes on for miles.
Next, you’ll drive through the heart of the Parque Natural da Arrábida, one of Portugal’s most breathtaking protected areas. This road trip is an attraction. Expect turquoise coves, limestone cliffs, and green hills that dive into the sea. We’ll stop along the way so you can soak it all in (and snap a few photos, of course).
At lunchtime, we’ll stop in Sesimbra, a small fishing village known for having some of the best seafood in the region. Whether you’re in the mood for grilled fish or fresh clams, this is your chance to eat right by the ocean like a local.
After lunch, the tour continues into the town of Azeitão, famous for its wine and Portuguese tile-making traditions. Here, you’ll visit a local tile atelier, learn the history of azulejos, and even paint your own if you’d like – a unique keepsake to take home.
Finally, as you return to Lisbon, you’ll stop at the dramatic Christ the King statue inspired by Rio’s Christ the Redeemer. From here, enjoy sweeping views over the capital and the 25th of April Bridge, a perfect way to end the day. Please note: access to the top of the statue is not included.
This Arrábida tour is about slowing down, breathing in nature, and connecting with Portugal beyond the city walls.
