MAFRA & ERICEIRA

Mafra and Ericeira are a short trip from Lisbon, and it won’t take too long either to impress you. From big convents and luxurious palaces, to surfer’s paradise and wine tastings with good snacks everyone in the family will feel included here!

OUR ADVENTURE DESCRIPTION:

● Driving in the opposite site of rush hour, let’s Lisbon behind and start our day in Mafra where a lot of people should ot live now a days, and where back in the 17th century the portuguese king John V promised God and the friars a convent if he just could get an heir to the throne.

Before lunch, let’s make a pit stop by José Franco Village. José Francos was a portuguese sculptor who dedicated his time creating a village made entirely of clay, displaying the typical architecture of the region with the purpose of reminding us of the way Mafra used to be in its previous rural periods.

● Let’s follow the Portuguese aristocracy’s steps and visit Ericeira for a delicious meal by the ocean! Ericeira, where the sea is the most blue, you can expect some surfers down the line, since this former fishing town was named in 2011 as an official World Surfing reserve by the Save The Waves coalition.

● And to add the cherry on top of the cake, let’s have a quick drive into a local winery to learn all about the wine they produce in the region, and do some cheers all together before heading back to the capital!
